IWCA Uganda Chapter Newsletter Vol.1_Issue_2_June_2019
Overview
This issue highlights the continued advocacy efforts of the International Women’s Coffee Alliance (IWCA) Uganda Chapter in promoting the meaningful participation of women across Uganda’s coffee value chain. It addresses persistent socio-cultural and economic barriers—such as limited land ownership and gender stereotypes—that hinder women’s full engagement in agribusiness.
The newsletter outlines the launch and implementation of the Chapter’s Three-Year Strategic Plan (2019–2021), aligned with Uganda’s national development priorities and supported by USAID Uganda Feed the Future Enabling Environment for Agriculture. It also showcases IWCA Uganda’s growing regional and international presence, including its membership in the African Fine Coffees Association and participation in global coffee events.
Overall, the issue reinforces IWCA Uganda Chapter’s commitment to women’s economic empowerment, institutional strengthening, market access expansion, and sustainable development within the coffee sector.
