Final IWCA Farmer Profiling

Final IWCA Farmer Profiling

Overview

This report summarizes a profiling and mapping exercise by the International Women’s Coffee Alliance Uganda Chapter, supported by the Rainforest Alliance, assessing coffee production capacities of women in five Ugandan districts. It found that most farmers are women engaged at farm level with traditional practices, limited yields, and low participation in decision-making and land ownership. Challenges include low prices, limited market information, and reliance on middlemen. Recommendations focus on forming farmer groups, enhancing training and extension access, promoting joint decision-making, and supporting women-led producer initiatives to empower women along the coffee value chain and improve productivity, income, and market access.
